Digital Twin Demo
Lex den Doop, Digital Twin BV
In the Information Age, to quickly adapt to internal and external pressures and requirements, knowledge workers crave for a boundaryless information flow. Nowadays, organizations are experiencing an increasing volume, variety, and velocity of change and complexity; unstructured (and siloed) information; disparate data sources, formats, document types, and semantics.
In addition, the employee life cycle has become shorter over the years and the average rate at which employees rotate jobs in an organization or a project is increasing. This resulted in a continuous and accelerated process of knowledge dilution and knowledge erosion, information gaps, and data quality issues.
Meanwhile, organizations are coping with an increasing rate of information and email overload, duplicated efforts, and reverse engineering. Higher costs of external consultants and fines for regulatory non-compliance are also indicators that organizations are not in control.
Finally, from a collaboration and cooperation perspective there are all kinds of issues relating alignment, communication and governance. Generally speaking, organizations are getting more and more disintegrated, inflexible and far too complex to manage, causing an existential threat to the organization.
A Digital Twin of the Organization (DTO) addresses all of the challenges mentioned above. A DTO is derived from the concept of a digital twin. A digital twin is a virtual representation (replica) of the elements and dynamics of an object, physical or non-physical, in its operational context and throughout its entire life cycle. A digital twin provides strategic capabilities such as the methods, the tool, and the data model of the objects. By creating a boundaryless information flow across the organization (i.e. across management disciplines, inventories, and activities), a digital twin delivers transparency, insight, overview, and context.
A DTO is a family (a network) of integrated digital twins. The DTO unfolds how an organization operationalizes its business models, connects with its current state, responds to changes, deploys resources and delivers exceptional customer value. A DTO consists of an enterprise wide data model and method for managing disciplines, inventories and activities. To create and maintain a boundaryless information flow it is of utter importance to have all of the above mentioned topics classified in one single version of the truth.
In this session:
- Why a DTO is a game changer for organizations?
- How does a digital twin work?
- Demo of the DTO software.
Lex den Doop (44) is the founder of a Digital Twin BV, creator of a DTO (Digital Twin Organization) and parent of a family of more than 150 digital twins. Lex holds two double degrees from Hogeschool Utrecht (Marketing & Economics) and Nyenrode Business University (MBA, Msc). In between these degrees Lex studied Policy, Communication and Organizational sciences at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. In the past 25+ years Lex has consulted multinationals across various industries on data/ information/knowledge/process/change management &-governance, GDPR, ecommerce, and digital transformation.
In 2016 Lex invented a method, based on the Zachman framework for Enterprise Architecture, which enables an organization to turn any model or framework into an actionable knowledge base. Moreover, the method significantly reduces time to implementation and the perceived distance between theory and practice, by providing an operational digital twin and repository of the nouns and verbs of the organization.
